In December, Steve Martini and 36 others visited Cuba as part of the Jewish Federation’s Major Gifts Mission. The mission trip gave Steve Martini an opportunity to help in the impactful work the Jewish Federation has had on Cuba’s Jewish community.
The Jewish Federation has helped fund Cuba’s only Jewish Sunday School, assisted Jewish educators and trained local Jews to lead religious services. Thanks to Steve and other mission participants, one of Havana’s religious centers, Patronato Synagogue, received much needed medications and supplies during their visit. Year-round, the Jewish Federation helps stock the Patronato’s pharmacy, which dispenses medications at no cost—not only to Jews, but to all of those in the greatest need.
Steve Martini is grateful to have had the opportunity to help Cuba’s thriving Jewish community. For more information on missions to Cuba, please contact John Magoulas at JMagoulas@JewishLA.org.
